Marefa Company for digital content was established in Jordan under the name of Knowledge World Center in 2004. And then it became owned by Marefa World Company in the year 2009. It is a company concerned with the production of Arabic digital knowledge in the aim of establishing Marefa database. This has been achieved according to the following considerations:
- In light of the society’s reliance upon knowledge and the tremendous increase in the demand for information in various fields.
- The acute shortage in Arabic digital content in comparison with international indicators.
- The remarkably weak interest in building Arabic electronic databases whether by institutions in the Arab World or the international ones specialized in the design of international databases.
In light of the above came the need to enhance the level of Arab digital content. Moreover, the rise of the ambition by Knowledge World company, which was known as Knowledge World Center, to build and display a comprehensive Arabic database that is characterized by a great level of quality, proficiency and professionalism.
In fact, this has been achieved since Knowledge World Company for Digital Content has established the project of Marefa database in January 2008. This project has been accomplished in four years that involved several challenges that were overcome by the company team through their proficiency, professionalism and innovation.

Knowledge World is an Arab academic institution that provides and establishes information databases of high quality and professional principles in accordance with international standards and practices. This is in service of business sectors and academic research establishments in the Arab and international societies. Moreover, it aims to spread Arab knowledge to enhance its greatest contribution to Arab development and the interaction of civilizations in cooperation with success partners such as companies and staff members working in the information sector.
